Cardi B wore vintage Thierry Mugler, won the Grammy for Best Rap Album
Published on:
Cardi B was one of the biggest deals at last night’s Grammys – she had gotten five nominations (including Album of the Year for Invasion of Privacy) and she took home one Grammy, for Best Rap Album. She was actually the first solo female artist to win Best Rap Album, so good for her.
She was thrilled, and she really wanted to win something. She also paid tribute to Mac Miller in an Instagram just after she won.
Cardi arrived on the red carpet wearing a vintage gown/ensemble by Thierry Mugler. Like, this was pulled out of Mugler archives – it’s a look that’s supposed to represent a modern Venus, or the pearl in the oyster. Or something. I was totally fine with this look – it’s the Grammys, and she was having fun. Offset was with her on red carpet, and there were cutaway shots to him during her performance and all of that. They’re fully back together.
Also: I was sort of underwhelmed by Cardi’s live performance of “Money.” I think it’s because I don’t think that’s her strongest song? But I have to give it to her – she turned a very sleek, professional performance. She rehearsed that sh-t and you could tell. That’s what I kept thinking about everything regarding Cardi: she’s ready, and she’s a total pro.
