When did Portugal make their World Cup debut?
The Portuguese team made its international debut at the 1966 World Cup. They had a great run in their debut season and came in third. Even though they were placed in a difficult group with teams like Brazil, Hungary, and Bulgaria, they were successful. They defeated Brazil three times, winning each match handily.
Four of the five goals in their 5-3 quarterfinal triumph over North Korea were scored by Eusebio. However, they were forced to lose to the eventual winners in England in the semifinals thanks to Bobby Charlton. They won the bronze medal and third place after defeating Russia in the third-place playoff. Eusebio set a record for Portugal by scoring nine goals during the tournament, a mark that has not yet been surpassed. He was in excellent condition during the competition.
After an outstanding showing in 1966, Portugal had to wait 36 years to reclaim World Cup qualifying. They were unable to deliver in 2002, however, and were eliminated from the group stage after losing two of their three games. In 2006, they made a strong comeback and made it all the way to the semifinals. In his first World Cup, Cristiano Ronaldo did not disappoint anyone. Even though he only scored one goal, he played quite well throughout the entire game. At just 21 years and 132 days old, he scored against Iran to become the youngest Portuguese player in World Cup history.

Portugal earned nine points from three games to advance to the World Cup Round of 16.

However, France defeated Portugal 1-0 in their semifinal game, eliminating Luiz Felipe Scolari's squad. During the team's defeat in the World Cup, Cristiano Ronaldo received taunts. Later, Italy won the 2006 FIFA World Cup after defeating France in the final on penalties.

A few of the players on Portugal's team are Cristiano Ronaldo, Bernardo Silva, and Bruno Fernandes, and they are talented enough to win the FIFA World Cup in 2022. Other teams would be foolish to undervalue them in the competition.
